Certificate Editor

The Certificate Editor is where you create quality certificates from a schema, fill them in, check them against the schema and notarize them. A certificate is always based on a published schema that its owner has assigned to your company, or on a schema your own company published.

The editor is available under Certificates › Certificates. The Certificates area has three tabs:

  • Certificates: create, fill in, validate and notarize certificates (this page)
  • Schemas: the Schema Builder
  • Lists: Schema Lists, reusable values people pick from when filling out certificates
Create a certificate from an assigned schema, validate it and notarize it

Create a Certificate

Click Create Certificate, choose the schema and enter a name for the certificate. Only published schemas your company owns or has been assigned are offered. The form opens right away.

Fill in the Form

The form follows the schema: its sections and fields are the schema's groups and fields, and the schema's rules apply while you type.

  • The section list on the left mirrors the schema. Clicking a group expands it; clicking a field opens it in the form.
  • A blue star marks a required field. Fields without a marker are optional.
  • A padlock marks a value the schema has fixed. It is shown in the form and stored in the certificate, but cannot be changed.
  • Some fields come pre-filled with a suggested value from the schema. You can change it.
  • The blue badge above the section list counts the fields that still need input. Click it, or press ⌘↩ (Mac) or Ctrl↩ (Windows), to jump to the next one. When nothing is left, it shows All Done.
  • Values are checked as you go. If a value does not fit the schema, for example a number outside its limits or a date in the wrong format, an error appears under the field until it is corrected.
  • Tables of measurements can be shown as a list or as a table. In the table, click a cell to see its limits, type the value and press Enter to move on to the next cell.
  • A field linked to a Schema List shows a database icon. Pick an entry and its values are filled in.

Your Company as the Manufacturer

Under Manufacturer, enter your own company. The company identifier in the certificate, its VAT or DUNS number depending on what the schema asks for, must be the one registered for your company in S1SEVEN. It is checked when the certificate is notarized; a certificate with a different identifier cannot be notarized.

Save and Validate

You can Save at any time. A certificate stays a Draft until every required field is filled and every rule of the schema is met. Then its status changes to Valid: the certificate has been checked against the schema.

Notarize a Certificate

A valid, saved certificate can be notarized with Notarize. Notarization writes a fingerprint (hash) of the certificate to the blockchain, signed with your company's identity. It proves that the certificate existed in exactly this form at this time.

  • A notarized certificate cannot be changed any more.
  • Your company and the receivers named in the certificate, such as the customer, receive it by email, as PDF and JSON. Receivers who are not registered on S1SEVEN are invited to sign up.
  • The Notarization Progress page shows when the transaction is completed. Show Deliveries lists the emails that were sent.

See Notarize Certificates for the notarization process and Wallets for the identities behind it.

Manage Certificates

The certificate list shows each certificate with its schema, identifier, product, customer and Status: Draft, Valid or Notarized. The actions menu (⋮) of a certificate offers:

  • Rename (not for notarized certificates)
  • Duplicate: a new draft with the same values
  • Preview PDF for a valid certificate, View PDF once it is notarized
  • Export Certificate: download the JSON
  • Delete
