Global Rules

Global rules check relationships between several fields across the whole certificate, for example "one of these 3 numeric fields has to be minimum 100"

Unlike conditional properties, a global rule never hides a field. Unlike conditional validation rules, it is not tied to one field: it is a rule check on the whole certificate.

Create a Rule

Global rules live under the settings button above the field tree, on the Rules tab. Click Add rule:

1. Enter a Name. Optionally add a custom error message. Click Continue.
2. Build the condition in the same editor as conditional properties. A global rule can refer to any field the certificate can show, including fields that only appear under a condition.
3. Click Save rule.

Create a global rule across several fields

Rules are autosaved as you create, edit, or delete them.

Good to Know

• A rule that refers to a field that is only shown conditionally is marked with a warning dot. Its actions menu (⋯) shows the warning and the option Add that condition. Choose it to make the rule pass while the field is hidden. The rule then shows the added part, for example "Or not Material = Steel".
